1. fame and the way it functions in society- why do we need celebrity? what’s our relationship to it?
2. how fame is represented in media, especially film.
3. realism- what is realist film, or art or whatever? what makes it realist?
4. how representations of people in films affect our attitudes toward them in real life… teenagers, minorities, whatever group.
instead of the sun i got the rain, i got trains and planes and heavy bags and hurricane winds, but in the midst of it i got patches of summer- a night at the martinez, a walk on the red carpet, a film that made my heart pound. a dinner with a best friend, walking around with wet feet, a broken bag strap that made me see the sea. my blue polished toes disappear in the azure water, i eat crepes and drink cafe au lait, and i finally feel like i am inside summer, inside the french riviera, in a place that exists only here and now and never again.
